Digital dentistry is changing how dental laboratories design and manufacture customized restorative products. 3D Systems has expanded its distribution partnership with France-based BioSummer Dental, which has added the NextDent 300 MultiJet 3D printer to its portfolio.
The agreement is intended to improve access to digital denture production technology across France and support broader adoption in European dental laboratories.
A More Integrated Denture Production Workflow
The NextDent Jetted Denture Solution is designed to produce monolithic dentures, combining teeth and gums into a single printed component. The workflow aims to reduce labor-intensive manual production steps while supporting consistent geometry and patient-specific customization.
3D Systems states that the expansion follows EU Medical Device Regulation certification in April 2026 for its NextDent Jet Base and Teeth materials. This regulatory milestone supports commercialization of those materials across the European Union.
BioSummer Dental plans to introduce the NextDent 300 to selected strategic customers and use its existing distribution network to support adoption.
The Role of Additive Manufacturing in Digital Dentistry
Dental manufacturing is a strong example of how additive manufacturing can support customized production. Each patient may require a different geometry, while laboratories must balance fit, aesthetics, material performance and production efficiency.
Digital workflows can connect scanning, CAD-based design and 3D printing, reducing the number of manual transfers between stages.
The technology still requires appropriate clinical validation, material compliance and quality-control procedures.
The partnership highlights the continued expansion of additive manufacturing beyond industrial engineering into healthcare applications, where customization and repeatable digital production are becoming increasingly important.
