Manufacturers moving their product lifecycle management environments to the cloud often face a difficult transition: engineering design data may remain stored in separate on-premises systems even after enterprise applications have migrated.
Trinamix and OpenBOM are addressing this challenge with Trinamix CAD Vault for Oracle Fusion Cloud PLM, a solution announced during Oracle AI World 2026. The platform introduces a cloud product data management layer that connects engineers’ CAD work with released product records and engineering bills of materials in Oracle Fusion.
Connecting Design Data and Enterprise Records
The solution is designed to manage CAD files and work-in-progress engineering data while allowing Oracle Fusion Cloud PLM to remain the controlled system of record for released items, revisions and BOMs.
According to the companies, the platform supports integrations with major engineering applications, including SOLIDWORKS, PTC Creo, Onshape, Siemens NX, Solid Edge, Autodesk Inventor and other systems through the OpenBOM integration toolkit.
Cloud synchronization, automatic versioning and collaborative file locking are intended to help distributed engineering teams work without depending on traditional vault servers or permanent VPN connections.
Why the CAD-to-PLM Connection Matters
A CAD assembly is more than a collection of geometry files. It contains product structure, component relationships and engineering decisions that influence purchasing, manufacturing and service operations.
Connecting this information directly to enterprise PLM can reduce manual BOM re-entry, improve revision traceability and make engineering changes easier to govern.
The integration is being introduced through an early-adopter program. Its practical value will depend on implementation quality, supported CAD workflows and the way each manufacturer manages engineering change approval.
The announcement reflects a wider industry movement: cloud PLM is increasingly expected to manage not only released product information but also the engineering data and collaboration processes that create it.
